Senator Pat Roberts will likely run for re-election in 2008 but it will be a tougher fight than he is used to. Roberts' vote share is similar to that of Conrad Burns and Lincoln Chafee at the same point in 2005- both of whom were defeated in 2006. According to the Associated Press, former Congressman Jim Slattery is considering a run. Beating Roberts will require hard work and determination, but he is by no means guaranteed re-election.
