Carl Levin is up for re-election in an extremely blue state and, according to the National Journal, "Levin's reputation for candor and hard work, and his rumpled persona have given him great political strength in Michigan. Every six years his percentage has crept a little higher." The Associated Press reports that Carl Levin has two potential Republican challengers: former state Rep. Andrew “Rocky” Raczkowski and state Rep. Jack Hoogendyk. Raczkowski challenged Levin in 2002, and lost overwhelmingly; Hoogendyk withdrew his six-month bid for governor against Dick DeVos in 2005.
