Cheryl and Hongtai Li, parents of 1-year-old Alexandria Mei-Lian, would welcome any help in child-care expenses.
"They are so high you are basically working (to pay) for the baby sitter," said Hongtai Li, a Springfield architect.
So the couple is pleased to hear that Claire McCaskill is proposing to double the tax break in child-care expenses for middle-class Americans, among other tax cuts she has proposed.
"It'll definitely help us," Li said.
McCaskill, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, said her plan will help middle-class families rather than the wealthiest.
"It's time we think about the middle-class Americans, not just the wealthy Americans," McCaskill said.
Her plan has three components, covering first-time home buyers, child-care expenses and college education.
Cheryl Li likes what she hears.
