The commercial is visceral. Literally.
An Iraqi war veteran fires four bullets into the gut of a mannequin wearing a Vietnam War-era flak jacket.
"It's the protection we were given when we deployed to Iraq," the vet says as he squeezes the trigger of an AK-47.
Video from the rear shows the rounds going right through the dummy.
He fires another set of shots into a second dummy wearing a modern, bullet-proof vest, which blocks them. Then he opens each and announces "the difference is life - and death." Web link: VoteVets.org ad attacking Allen
The political body blow that follows is even more blunt.
"Senator George Allen voted against giving our troops this," the vet intones, holding the new vest. "Now it's time for us to vote against him."
