National political stars from both parties make stops in Rhode Island.
Possible G-O-P presidential candidate Rudy Guiliani was in Providence to campaign for Governor Carcieri.
And rising Democratic heavyweight Barack Obama spoke at Brown University on Thursday night.
Guiliani's appearance raised 90-thousand dollars for Carcieri's campaign. Giuliani said Carcieri had solved a lot of the state's problems, but needed more time to solve the rest.
At Brown, Obama told the overflow audience that a mismatch between our politics and values has bred cynicism. He said people have begun to think politics is about power-rather than mission.
But he urged the crowd not to yield to cynicism, but to instead work for change.
In a separate appearance, Obama appeared at Rhode Island College to campaign for Democratic candidate for Senate, Sheldon Whitehouse.
