Since it is the season for frivolous, tit-for-tat, insulting political ads on television in the Senate race between Harold Ford Jr. and Bob Corker, we have some rebuttals of our own:

About the bimbo who says she met Ford at a Playboy party and wants him to call her: Mr. Corker, what is your plan for the long-term solvency of Social Security? Do you favor some of the proposals on the table, or do you have your own ideas for people's retirement years? It was hard to catch that in the ad.

About the shady character who says Ford took money from pornographers: Mr. Corker, what exactly is your strategy for getting us out of Iraq? Have you developed your strategy from lengthy talks with U.S. military officers or did you devise your own blueprint?

About the couple who suggests Canada could take care of North Korea: Mr. Corker, health-care costs are weighing heavily on the minds and bank accounts of millions of Americans. Many people have no health-care insurance. Exactly how would you make health care more affordable, insurance more accessible, and ensure every American has proper care?

About the claim that Ford thinks hunters have too many guns: Mr. Corker, the federal government, with a Republican-controlled Congress, is operating at a budget deficit of hundreds of billions of dollars, and the national debt is now $8.5 trillion. How will you move toward a balanced budget? Americans keep hearing that the economy is improving, but they are having a difficult time making their personal finances reflect that improvement. What economic strategies do you advocate?
