With just six days to go before the election, the latest poll to come out on the U.S. Senate race in Ohio has the Democratic challenger holding a significant lead.

According to a CNN poll released Tuesday, U.S. Rep. Sherrod Brown, D-Avon, is leading Republican Sen. Mike DeWine among registered voters by 8 percentage points -- 51 percent to 43 percent.

Among likely voters, Brown increases his lead to 11 points --54 percent to 43 percent.

In interviews conducted Oct. 26-29, 933 registered Ohio voters were asked for whom they would vote if the election for U.S. Senate in Ohio were being held today.

Six percent were still undecided.

In the same sampling the respondents were asked about their vote in the Ohio governor's race. Fifty-six percent of registered voters selected Democrat Ted Strickland. Republican candidate J. Kenneth Blackwell had 35 percent of the vote, with 8 percent undecided and 1 percent for ``other.''

Among likely voters, Strickland had a 23-point advantage over Blackwell -- 59 percent to 36 percent.
